Dr. Moustafa K. Moustafa is a general surgeon with an interest in rural medicine, public health, and global surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He studied medicine at the Yale School of Medicine and completed his training at the University of Virginia where he spent two additional years researching the impact of war and poverty on surgical patients on fellowships through the University of Utah’s Center for Global Surgery and Harvard.
His global surgical interests have taken him on missions to Honduras, Belize, Lebanon, Ghana and Sudan. He consults as the general surgery lead for GSE, a Virginia-based NGO that brings surgical care to countries in Latin America, and he is the founder of the Savannah Water Project, an NGO that establishes wells for rural farming communities in northern Ghana with no access to clean water. In his spare time, Dr. Moustafa enjoys offshore fishing and woodworking. He lives in Richmond, VA with his wife and three children.
